Description
Sisyrinchium californicum, commonly known as Yellow-Eyed Grass, is a compact and attractive marginal pond plant that produces masses of bright yellow, star-shaped flowers held above neat clumps of slender, grass-like foliage.
Flowering from late spring into summer, this low-growing plant is perfect for adding colour to the front of pond margins, streams, or bog gardens. Its tidy habit makes it ideal for smaller spaces or for softening the edges of paving and rocks around the pond.
Thriving in shallow water or consistently damp soil, Sisyrinchium californicum is easy to grow and low maintenance. It can be planted in aquatic baskets and positioned in water depths of up to around 5–10cm (2–4”), where it will establish quickly and provide reliable seasonal interest.
