Description
A unique and architectural marginal, Saururus cernuus (Lizard’s Tail) is named for its distinctive, arching white flower spikes that curve gracefully, resembling a lizard’s tail. Flowering in early to mid-summer, it adds an unusual focal point and subtle movement to pond edges and bog gardens.
Its lush green, heart-shaped leaves form dense clumps, providing strong ground coverage and a natural, established look. Ideal for softening margins or planting in groups, it works particularly well in wildlife and informal pond settings.
Thriving in moist soil or shallow water, Lizard’s Tail is hardy and easy to grow, gradually spreading to create a bold, leafy presence while also helping to absorb excess nutrients from the water.
