Description
Iris pseudacorus variegata, commonly known as Variegated Yellow Flag Iris, is a striking marginal pond plant valued for its cream and green striped foliage and bright yellow iris flowers that appear in late spring to early summer. The bold variegated leaves add colour and structure around the pond edge even when the plant is not in flower.
This hardy aquatic plant grows well in the shallow margins of ponds and water features where it helps to soften the edges of the pond and create a natural wildlife-friendly environment. The upright foliage provides shelter for insects and amphibians while the vibrant flowers attract pollinators.
Ideal for planting in aquatic baskets, Iris pseudacorus variegata works well alongside other marginal plants to create height and texture around the pond. It is easy to grow and well suited to both wildlife ponds and ornamental garden ponds.
