Gratiola officinalis, commonly known as Hedge Hyssop, is a delicate marginal pond plant that produces small pale white to soft pink tubular flowers throughout the summer months. The flowers appear along slender upright stems above narrow green foliage, bringing subtle colour and texture to pond margins and damp garden areas.
This hardy perennial thrives in moist soil and shallow water, making it well suited to wildlife ponds, streams, and bog gardens. Its compact growth habit allows it to blend naturally with other marginal plants while helping to soften the edges of ponds and water features.
Gratiola officinalis is particularly attractive to pollinating insects and works well in naturalistic planting schemes where biodiversity is encouraged.
