Description
Carex pendula, commonly known as Pendulous Sedge or Weeping Sedge, is a tall and graceful marginal pond plant valued for its long arching green foliage and distinctive drooping flower spikes that appear in late spring and summer. The elegant foliage forms dense clumps that add height, movement, and natural structure around ponds and water features.
This hardy sedge grows well in damp soil or shallow water and is ideal for planting along pond margins, streams, and bog gardens. Its upright growth habit makes it excellent for softening pond edges and creating a more natural, wildlife-friendly environment.
Carex pendula is particularly useful in larger ponds or natural planting schemes where its height and flowing foliage can provide shelter for insects, amphibians, and small wildlife.
