Case Study - Intercity Technology

The expansive pond development we completed at Intercity Technology's premises was designed to mimic the appearance of a canal, drawing inspiration from Birmingham city centre's rich heritage and its historic waterways, which were used for cargo transport from 1767 to 1948.

What services did we provide?

Removing debris build-up and installing suitable filtration

Initially, another company had completed the pond but failed to install adequate filtration systems. Over the years, this oversight resulted in a build-up of silt and debris, leading to a murky green appearance during the summer months.

The building houses several tenants, including ITV, which had previously used the pond as a backdrop for weather reports. However, the pond's deteriorating condition eventually led to the cessation of these shoots.

Safely rehousing Koi while we pressure wash the pond area

In our project, we first drained the pond and set up temporary vats to house the beloved Koi carp, which had been a favourite among employees taking breaks in the surrounding seating areas. We then removed all silt and unwanted vegetation, followed by a thorough pressure wash and cleaning of the entire pond.

During the process, we discovered several leaks caused by the previous contractors' poor workmanship. These were addressed through fiberglass repair and sealing.

Next, we installed a state-of-the-art Oase Automated Filtration System, which included a drum filter, bio chambers, air pumps, water pumps, and ultraviolet sterilizers. After refilling the pond and adding the necessary chemical treatments to condition the water, we returned the Koi carp and commissioned the new system.
